Reporting To: Heavy Rental Fleet Manager

If you have high integrity and a strong work ethic, we want you on our team!   We are seeking a talented Rental Specialist to use their technical expertise and respond to our customer’s rental requests, recommend rental product solutions, win the business and ensure timely execution of the customer’s rental requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate safe work and environmentally sound behaviours at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy, Programs and initiatives
  • Coordinate with all other branches, sales and service teams to provide timely responses to customer inquiries by phone/in person and ensure consistent rental procedures are followed and delivery expectations are met
  • Manage rental unit deployment through the rental period to the return and redeployment from one customer to another as scheduled
  • Analyze the needs of the customers to ensure the proper rental equipment is recommended and provide detailed technical information and diverse product knowledge of all equipment and work tools
  • Prepare rental agreements with accurate pricing and collect insurance and credit releases
  • Ensure the execution of customer rentals by reserving equipment accurately and communicate the plan across all stakeholders  including shipping and shop requirements
  • Encourage continuous improvement in shop and field operations by building and maintaining working relationships with various levels of management and the wide range of suppliers supporting Toromont’s rental goals
  • Participate in active engagement to drive awareness and adoption of rental options through Regional Sales Force including on-going contribution to business units marketing and promotions activities
  • Assist the Sales and Credit Departments with accounts receivables collections/issues and unpaid customer damage collections
  • Create and distribute equipment documentation and update all equipment files accurately
  • Maintain DBS to reflect rental equipment locations, process final invoices and recover damages on returned rentals
  • Participate in ongoing Caterpillar product knowledge training

Key Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Education with 3+ years experience in a rental operation or construction industry
  • Safety conscious with highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and problem solving skills with a high sense of urgency
  • Customer centric with proven ability to develop and nurture trusted, long term partnerships internally, externally and at all levels
  • Innovative with strong initiative and able to work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task and deliver results in a fast-paced, demanding and deadline driven environment
  • Confident and self-directed with the ability to make independent decisions quickly with regards to both the equipment and financial arrangements
  • Strong attention to detail and able to handle complex and time sensitive situations
  • Experience with heavy equipment would be beneficial
  • Willing and able to work shift rotations in support of the business
