Do you have high integrity and strong work ethic?  Our Heavy Equipment Technicians are critical to the business and what make Toromont Cat a trusted dealer in repairs.  We are seeking a talented Apprentice Technician, Heavy Equipment to train with our trusted Technicians to maintain steady progression into a Licensed Technician position to safely and effectively diagnose and repair customer vehicles in a timely manner while ensuring positive customer relations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours at all times, in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment
  • Repair Caterpillar equipment within the established time standards
  • Service heavy equipment within the established time standards while maintaining quality workmanship
  • Prepare accurate service reports and possess a working knowledge of Caterpillar products and systems

Key Qualifications

  • Completed a College Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice Program with exemption exams written and passed
  • Highly safety conscious and a Co-op/1-2 years experience repairing equipment on a shop floor would be an asset
  • Knowledge of CAT SIS, or experience with Toromont parts operations would be an asset
  • Ability to read and understand prints, drawings and technical bulletins
  • Customer centric with excellent relationship management, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and energetic team player who can work effectively in a high demand fast paced environment
  • Able to take the initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Computer and systems literate with proficiencies Excel and Word (DBS would be beneficial)
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours in support of the business needs
  • A valid Driver’s Licence and current clean Driver’s Abstract
