Do you have high integrity and strong work ethic?  We are seeking a talented Production Shop Service Advisor to work closely with our Shop Technicians, Lead Hands, Project Managers, Engineers and Purchasing Department and assist the Production Shop Supervisor in improving shop productivity and quality, thus improving customer and employee satisfaction.

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate safe and environmentally sound work behaviours and objectives at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy, Programs and initiatives
  • Support our objective of making the Toromont Power Systems Production Shop a world class facility that will encourage our customers to do more business with Toromont
  • Support Shop Technicians to improve productivity, quality and safety, including availability of parts, tools and recoverable supplies
  • Work closely with engineering group to ensure quality and timeliness of submittals and foster communication between shop technicians and engineers, including engineer approval of as-built drawings on the shop floor
  • Review Electrical and Mechanical drawings to ensure accuracy
  • Order necessary equipment prior to issuing job to shop, through recoverable supplies or engineering as applicable
  • Assist Production Shop Supervisor in day-to-day planning of shop operations
  • Provide Estimators, PMs and Sales with Production quotations for future required work
  • Maintain estimating spreadsheets (test cell, fuel pricing, production quotation matrix, parts catalogue, etc.) and develop new spreadsheets as required
  • Assist Production Shop Supervisor in validating time card entry
  • Open work orders in DBS aligned with segments outlined in transmittals
  • Create job pouches and ensure current updates with the latest signed drawings and job instructions
  • Submit expense reports for Technicians
  • Process shop and project invoices in accordance to corporate invoicing targets
  • Maintain shop tools calibration records as per ISO procedures and document in Tool Crib Software
  • Coordinate parts deliveries with Purchasing Department

Key Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Education with a Mechanical and/or Electrical Technologist/Engineering Degree
  • Safety conscious with the ability to analyze and clarify technical and shop instructions
  • Experience reading Electrical and Mechanical drawing and schematics
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with cross functional teams and customers at all levels
  • Influential with solid business acumen, technical aptitude and mindset for continuous improvement
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving skills with a high sense of urgency
  • Self-directed and adaptable to changing and multiple priorities to meet aggressive deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Applications including Excel and Word
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Toromont Business Systems including IMACS, SIS, TMI, Service Scheduler and DBS would be an asset
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours in support of the business needs
