Reporting To: Manager, Client Services (I.T.)

If you have high integrity and a strong work ethic, we want you on our team!   We are seeking a talented AS400 Operator to provide support for all AS400 functions and is also responsible for all aspects of planning, analyzing, operations and supporting all AS400s and installing applications.

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate safe work and environmentally sound behaviours at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy, Programs and initiatives 
  • Manage the operation of the AS400 Primary and Disaster Recovery Systems
  • Manage the operations related to all AS400 applications including DBS-Coda, PO system, WMS, IRS, Staylink, Itera, Formsprint, console, developers tools, Gentran, Power tech
  • Provide guidance and direction to lower-level System Administrators and Operators
  • Set and meet operational targets for all core Business Systems
  • Ensure 7/24 availability in case of emergencies
  • Upgrades, regular updates of Program Temporary Fixes (PTF’s) and cumes (grouped PTF’s) for both AS400s
  • Manage system hardware and software upgrades (resourcing, planning, upgrading) for both AS400s
  • Manage all third party software to ensure version is current/compatible to AS400 operating system
  • Implement all appropriate AS400 reliability and security processes for Toromont Cat
  • Manage and maintain all job schedules (Robot Products) and backups
  • Maintain H/A Itera software to ensure replication is accurate and current on all AS400 Systems and that software is maintained through regular service pack updates and regular virtual role swaps
  • Provide after hours support as required

Key Qualifications

  • University Degree/College Diploma in an Information Technology discipline and a minimum  5+ years’ experience with an AS400 operating environment, Robot and other related utility software
  • Knowledge of Windows operating environment and related utility software
  • Knowledge of personal computers, printers and other accessories
  • Safety conscious and customer centric with exceptional communication and interpersonal
  • Highly organized with well developed diagnostic and analytical skills 
  • Positive team player with strong problem solving abilities and a sense of urgency in a fast paced environment
  • Effective time management and project planning skills with the ability to adapt to multiple and often changing schedules
  • Mindset for continuous improvement and the ability to work under pressure to resolve user concerns with high integrity
  • Attention to detail and aptitude for learning software quickly with minimum instruction
  • Willing and able to travel and work on call and after hours rotations
  • A valid Ontario Driver's Licence and clean Driver's Abstract
