Reporting To: Training and Technical Support Manager

Do you have high integrity and strong work ethic?  We are seeking a talented Technical Communicator to provide valuable support to our Technicians and our Customers through top technical expertise on our Caterpillar Product Line. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behavior’s at all times, in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
  • Provide technical support to Technicians and Customers through external research and Caterpillar’s Heavy Equipment Product Support Network to determine repair solutions and options
  • Utilize Toromont and CAT On-Line Systems for research and reporting
  • Remain current on any product line changes and coordinate with all branches to communicate market and product issues and provide updates to Caterpillar and Toromont Cat Divisions
  • Provide technical support as liaison between Toromont and Cat's Engineering and Product Groups
  • Prepare and conduct presentations for sales, service and factory technical communication meetings
  • Actively participate in product problem management and continuous product improvement programs and meetings
  • Utilize Caterpillar resources to provide regular updates on products and systems to all Technicians
  • Provide instructor led training when required

Key Qualifications

  • A Heavy Equipment/Truck & Coach Licence or equivalent experience in a the Technical Field/Heavy Equipment/Power Systems Industries
  • Minimum of 5 years Commercial and Industrial Field Service experience
  • Highly safety conscious with a minimum of 5 years’ practical experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing Cat Heavy Equipment, Commercial Engines and Power Generation Equipment
  • Strong technical aptitude with a solid knowledge of products and services supported by Toromont Cat
  • Knowledge of and ability to conduct failure analysis would be an asset
  • Exceptional communication, relationship development and interpersonal skills
  • Solid analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills
  • Results driven with solid business acumen and customer centric with proven commitment to deliver internal and external service excellence continuously
  • Mindset for continuous improvement, self-motivated and a collaborative team player able to work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Willing and able to teach and lead a classroom of Technicians
  • Adaptable and able to address competing and multiple priorities by planning effective strategies and remaining current on the market conditions
  • Highly computer literate with proficiencies in Microsoft Applications
  • Experience with Cat Systems/DBS/SIS would be highly beneficial
  • Willing and able to travel and work outside regular business hours as required
  • A valid Passport and Driver’s Licence with current clean Driver's Abstract
