Reporting To: Service Supervisor

If you have high integrity and a strong work ethic, we want you on our team! This unique apprenticeship model will seek to groom apprentice technicians for rotational work at remote sites and Toromont locations away from home. Each Apprentice will be embedded in a full service Toromont branch for up to 2 years while they complete their Level 1 and Level 2 requirements at which time they will join the Operations Support Team and rotate as required to remote or other locations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate in safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours and practices at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy/Programs and best practices
  • Repair Caterpillar equipment for our customers in a timely and economical manner
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic problems using Caterpillar testing equipment
  • Prepare service reports and service documentation in an accurate and timely manner

Key Qualifications

  • Completed a College Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice Program with exemption exams written and passed
  • Co-op/1-2 years experience repairing equipment in a shop would be an asset
  • Knowledge of CAT SIS, or experience with Toromont parts operations would be an asset
  • Ability to read and understand prints, drawings and technical bulletins
  • Customer centric with excellent relationship management, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and energetic team player who can work effectively in a high demand fast paced environment
  • Able to take the initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Computer and systems literate with proficiencies Excel and Word (DBS would be beneficial)
  • Must be available for deployment to any of Toromont’s remote site locations or Branches - occasionally on short-notice to work required shifts and rotations
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours in support of the business needs
  • A valid Driver’s Licence and current clean Driver’s Abstract
