If you have high integrity and a strong work ethic, we want you on our team!  The Machinist will be responsible for the custom repair and restoration of mechanical parts and components relating to machinery repair

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate safe work and environmentally sound behaviours at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy, Programs and initiatives
  • Responsible for manufacturing hydraulic cylinders
  • Custom repair and restoration of mechanical parts and components relating to machinery repair
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace & performing basic maintenance functions
  • Restore damaged steel and cast iron components by welding, line boring, disassembling and assembling of relative components
  • Maintain an inventory of materials used for fabrication process and account to various projects based on usage

Key Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years as a General Machinist in a custom or Tool Room environment with primary experience in machinery component repair and rebuild
  • A certificate of Qualification as a General Machinist
  • Proficient with manual lathes, boring mills (horizontal), vertical mills and drills and hand tools associated with general machining
  • Being adaptable to a continuously changing work environment and demands
  • Experience with ferrous, non-ferrous, medium carbon and hardened steels an asset
  • Familiarity with pre-welding machining techniques for rods, shafts and tubes
  • Experienced with single point threading on lathes
  • Ability to measure machined components using various types of precision tooling including but not limited to calipers, ID & OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators & scales
  • Clear understanding of interference fits for pressed bushings and bearings
  • Computer literacy an asset as tolerances & drawing details are found in a database
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours in support of the business need
