Reporting To: Process Quality Manager

Do you have high integrity and strong work ethic?  We are seeking a talented Technical Communicator to provide valuable support to our technicians and customers through top technical expertise on the Caterpillar product line. This Technical Communicator will primarily be focused, but not limited to, supporting Toromont Reman’s Engine and Engine Components Department.

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behavior’s at all times in support of Toromont’s health and safety policies, programs and initiatives
  • Provide technical support to technicians and customers through external research and Caterpillar’s Product Support Network to determine repair solutions and options
  • Utilize Toromont and Cat on-line systems for research and reporting
  • Remain current on any product line changes and coordinate with all branches to communicate market/product issues and updates to Caterpillar and Toromont Cat divisions
  • Provide technical support as liaison between Toromont and Cat's engineering and product groups
  • Prepare and conduct presentations for sales, service and factory technical communication meetings
  • Actively participate in product problem management and continuous product improvement programs/meetings
  • Periodically perform formal technical training to Reman Technicians
  • Provide regular updates to our Reman Technicians on products and systems
  • Perform Applied Failure Analysis as required
  • Utilize Caterpillar resources to ensure Reman is remanufacturing using relevant updates and parts
  • Work closely with Process and Quality Department to assist with process and quality initiatives
  • Provide technical support to our internal CAPA system (Corrective Action, Preventative Action)

Key Qualifications

  • A Truck and Coach/Heavy Equipment Licence
  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing Cat Engines
  • Strong technical aptitude with a solid knowledge of products and services supported by Toromont Cat and Toromont Reman
  • Ability to conduct failure analysis would be an asset
  • Customer centric with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and well organized with strong problem solving and time management skills
  • Results driven with solid business acumen and proven commitment to deliver internal and external service excellence continuously
  • Self-motivated and a collaborative team player able to work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Adaptable and able to address competing and multiple priorities by planning effective strategies and remaining current on the market conditions
  • Highly computer literate with proficiencies in Microsoft applications
  • Experience with Cat Systems/DBS/SIS
  • Willing and able to travel and work outside regular business hours as required
  • A valid passport and Driver’s Licence with current Clean Driver's Abstract
