Toromont Cat is hiring! Our Heavy Equipment Mechanics are responsible for supporting the customer with superior service and product expertise in order to maintain extremely high standards that ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner with the utmost integrity.

Location of work: Detour Lake Mine, Ontario; 2hrs 40min NE from Cochran Ontario by car
 
Status: Full Time, Permanent – Number of Positions: 1 – Wage: $38.69 per hour plus $2.00/hr ‘remote site premium’ – NOC: 7312

Terms of employment: Permanent, Full-time role, 12hr days while on-site. Remote worksite; Rotation of 2 weeks on-site, 2 weeks off-site. OT payable after 8hrs and on weekends.

Key Accountabilities

  • Diagnose mechanical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment
  • Repair, allied or competitive Caterpillar earthmoving equipment as required, within the established time standards
  • Prepare service reports and service documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Participate as an integrated member of onsite mechanical staff
  • Maintain good customer relations
  • Comply with customer safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in workplace safety, environmentally sound and healthy behaviours and objectives at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy/Programs and best practices
  • Must be able to handle heavy loads, and physically demanding work; as well as standing for extended periods of time, bending, crouching and kneeling,
  • Position requires manual dexterity, attention to detail

  • Could involve working outdoors, in both cold/hot temperatures

Key Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education with a valid Heavy Equipment Technician Licence
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience directly related to the repair or rebuild of heavy equipment; preferably CAT equipment
  • A basic knowledge electrical and hydraulic systems
  • CAT Dealership experience
  • Safety conscious, customer centric with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Focused, energetic, self-motivated and organized with superior attention to detail
  • Proven ability to complete repairs/service within established time guidelines in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated team player with high integrity and initiative; must be flexible, dependable and reliable
  • Proven computer skills (specifically, SIS, CAT ET, DBS, Microsoft Applications)
  • A valid Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Advanced Troubleshooting experience – Hydraulic Electrical, Engines and powertrains, fuel injection and exhaust systems
  • Experience with Hydraulic and Electrical schematics
  • Experience with agricultural equipment and systems; attachments, with the ability to repair and adjust agricultural equipment
  • Mechanical Maintenance and Repair Specialization including : Wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering; Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering; Power take-offs; Off-road vehicle tires and wheels; Mechanical transmissions; Hydraulic transmissions; Highway vehicle tires and wheels; Drive trains and final drives; Differentials; Brake system
  • Technical writing skills with regards to warranty claims
  • Failure analysis experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HEX hydraulic systems
  • Ability to keep maintenance reports and documentation
  • Ability to instruct apprentices;
  • Able to work with a sense of urgency and high standards to meet customer deadlines without compromising safety or quality
  • Training/Certification specializing in Diesel Technology
  • Training/Certification specializing in Farm Equipment
